Be Free, Not "Me" - A Daylong Meditation Retreat
Kate Symes and Jason Waterman will be leading a daylong meditation retreat at the Friends Meeting of Washington, the oldest Quaker meeting house in the nation and one of the most beautiful and tranquil places in the city. This is a wonderful opportunity to be in community, develop your practice, and tap into your capacity to find peace in any moment.
People come to Kate and Jason as meditation teachers, as well as to Kate as an improv and yoga instructor, and to Jason as a psychotherapist, desiring to feel more present, more peace, and more freedom in their lives. People want to get out of their heads and get into the moment.
To be here, free in this moment, requires letting go of your attachment to "self," or "me." This retreat is about exploring practical applications of the Buddha’s teachings on this subject, integrating tools and techniques from modern psychotherapy, improv, and more to help us practice the art of being truly present.
The retreat will include dharma talks, silent meditation, various guided meditations, walking meditation in the lovely garden (weather permitting), some interactive elements, light movement practice, and sharing.
Although some previous mindfulness meditation experience is helpful, this retreat is suitable for newcomers and is open to all. Space is limited.
